Speech Therapy
John has worked very hard today, he has been on the exercise bike, the balancing board. He has done the audiblox programme, the Keda reading and had still been trying to read Planet Narnia. The new speech therapy work arrived today, it involves more written work, poor John worked so hard at trying to write things like how you can tell if a peach is ripe in a complete sentence. He also had to finish certain sentences, he found it very tiring and fraustrating, I think this aspect of the recovery is going to be one of th biggest challenges for John.
On a more positive note we have bought our daughter's wedding dress and have ordered the bridesmaid dresses. We have bought everything from the UK even though we found some beautiful dresses from the US, in the end we felt it was unwise to gamble with an overseas shop. Particularly when the shop in the US wanted as much as the cost of the dress to ship it over to the UK and there would be vat and import duties to be paid on top of everything. We went to a bridal shop yesterday and told the shop we wanted a modest wedding dress to try on, because we were Christians and didn't believe in bearing the shoulders or too low at the front. The lady in the shop said her dad was a Christian and believed the same, but she didn't agree with him. Nevertheless we had a little discussion and from then on she understood what we were looking for. She sent a couple of dresses back without even trying them on because she said they were too clingy. She asked what Naomi was studying and when Naomi said radiography she said she had had a lot of scans lately because she had cancer. We were amazed to find ourselves witnessing to someone who had a Christian father, was not a Christian, yet was going through a very tough time. Whe knows how many prayers her father has prayed for his daughter. We explained that we couldn't spend too much because Naomi's dad had recently suffered a stroke. She was very interested in helping, asking how Naomi had met her fiancee. She found us a beautiful dress in the sale, the other assistant showed how she could alter it to make it fit and more modest just at the front, so we came away with a reasonably priced dress, it will cost more than the online dress but we have seen what we are getting and know it suits Naomi. In many ways we both felt the Lord had gone before us and that we were meant to go to that shop yesterday.
When we came home we found some teen bridesmaid dresses from a UK store that had free returns on wedding items. They were very pretty and again modest, which is a rarety for any bridesmaid dresses bought in the UK. We took photos of Naomi in the dress and John was very pleased to see a photo of Naomi in the dress.
